Magda’s Final Promises in Poland
I am Magda, a Polish missionary, and I have been living in the Middle East for two years.
On May 10, I made my final promises of consecration. What did this step mean for me? It was a response to the merciful love of our God, which I have experienced throughout my life. (Luke 1:78)
Through His tender mercy, He led me with human bonds (Hos 11:4). My parents and siblings passed on the faith to me; priests and consecrated persons nurtured it and helped it grow. Through my brothers and sisters who are Servants of the Gospel, I discovered the beauty of a life dedicated to proclaiming the Word and forming missionaries.
Jesus called me, looking at me with love like the rich young man (Mark 10:21), inviting me to leave everything to gain everything in His friendship. He placed in my heart the desires of His own heart. Lately, He has revealed to me the most precious and painful parts of that Heart: the people of the Middle East.
Through His tender mercy, today Jesus calls me again. Christ confirmed His commitment of love to Peter, who had followed Him for several years, despite his weaknesses and failings, by asking the fisherman to: “Feed my sheep!” (Jn 21:16). In the same way, I also sense that the Lord is calling me again, confirming His covenant of Eternal Love with me.
Through his tender mercy
It is very meaningful for me to make my promises in this Jubilee year. With my humble “yes,” I wish to join so many who bear witness with their lives that Hope, which is Jesus, does not disappoint. In Him, we have the certainty that pain, difficulty, and death (whether personal or social) do not have the last word. In Him, we can hope for the Resurrection!
