he Asian Mission is an important event where young people from different parts of Asia, particularly the Philippines, Korea and Japan, come together for a common purpose. This year, the 7th Asian Mission had as its theme ‘MADE FOR A MISSION , MADE FOR PEACE ’. It took place in the region of Malasiqui, Bayambang, and San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines, from the 9th to the 16th of February. It was an opportunity to spread peace by offering small acts of service to others.

An opportunity for growth
This year’s mission was a totally new experience for me. Until now I had participated as just another participant, but this time I was part of the preparation team. When I think back on these days, I realise how much I have received through this mission. It was not just about serving others. It was connecting with the other young people I walk with, strengthening my faith and feeling love, acceptance and appreciation in difficult moments. So this mission was different: it became an opportunity for me to grow personally and spiritually, as a member of SMY (Servant Youth in Mission), and to realise how God works in me. I am always amazed that I can do things I thought I couldn’t do before.

“She had a big smile”
While visiting families in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, I met a mother whose children work for their relatives to help pay for their education. I felt sad for their situation, but the mother had a big smile on her face as she told us how God continues to be good to them in the midst of the struggles, pain and suffering they go through. And that is what love is: finding God in the midst of those difficulties and continuing to love unconditionally.
God’s love always shines through
Life’s challenges can be overwhelming. But even in our most difficult moments, God’s love shines through. He doesn’t promise a life without struggles, but He promises His presence and peace through them. When we remain grateful and faithful, even in hardship, we can experience His love in incredible ways. Through simple acts of kindness, we become instruments of that love and hope for others. No matter what we face. God’s peace is always within our reach, and by sharing it, we bring light to the world around us. We are made for peace!
