“You are the reason for my joy. I am joyful because I have seen you journey in faith seriously over these last three years in Lomé with a great desire to know God, to receive formation and to carry out the mission. It’s a joy to see you take this step of committing to God in this community, aware of the responsibility it involves. It’s a life force. The fraternity that we breathe, that is so important for everyone is the reason for my joy. Sometimes it is difficult to live as a family and to be trustful, but God in our midst makes a sincere and attractive fraternity possible. ” With these words, our sister Rosa Porcuna thanked the nineteen young people who made their commitment to the mission as young lay members of our community.
The commitment of these young missionaries was made in Lomé, Togo on 27th October during a simple Eucharist, which we shared with peace and joy. Nevertheless, all those who took part were aware of its importance.
We met these young people in the parish and institutes where we work. They went on their first retreat after participating in our workshops. The experience of faith they received there has made them persevere in formation weekends, in missionary experiences and as helpers in other retreats, by sharing their testimonies or giving an input of faith to other young people. Currently most of them are at university, although some girls are in their last year at secondary school and others are already working.
Pray for them for and for all the young people who want to follow Christ whole heartedly.
